Kenneth Robbins, originally from Douglasville, Georgia, lives with his wife in Ruston, Louisiana, where he is a professor and Director, School of the Performing Arts at Louisiana Tech University. His first novel, Buttermilk Bottoms, received the 1986 Toni Morrison Prize and the Associated Writing Programs Novel Award. His other novels In the Shelter of the Fold, and The Baptism of Howie Cobb are carried by Dream Catcher Publishing. His short fiction has appeared in the North Dakota Quarterly, the St. Andrews Review, the Briar Cliff Review, and a Carolina Literary Companion. David Rabhan Author of Conscious Coma David Rabhan, a Savannah, Georgia native, is the son of Morris and Frances Rabhan of Swainsboro, Georgia. A graduate of the University of Georgia, he served as a major in the U.S. Army Special Forces. He also was a private pilot for former President Jimmy Carter. In 1975, Mr. Rabhan traveled to Iran as a businessman, where he successfully produced infant formula and children's clothing. One day in 1980 when he was driving to one of his factories in Tehran, he was arrested, accused of being a spy, and imprisoned without formal charges. His first years were spent largely in solitary confinement. The Iranian officials finally filed charges against Mr. Rabhan in 1988, and he was given a specific sentence for the false charge of being a spy. At the end, he was told all was a mistake. He was finally released in 1990. He was been living in Swainsboro, Georgia for the past 13 years. |
